Sifu Rob
started training in Martial Arts at the age of 12, and
over the last 24 years has indulged in various styles.
During this time there were a few styles that held more
interest, that have become the core components of modern
day Mixed Martial Arts – Kung Fu, Western Boxing, Thai
Boxing, and Ju-Jitsu.
During
his life in Martial Arts, Sifu Rob has had the privilege
to meet and train with some legendary instructors such
as Grand Master Yip Chun (Son of the legendary Yip Man –
Bruce Lee’s Wing Chun instructor), Master Michael Tze,
and Master Samuel Kwok.
Sifu Rob’s main training background is with 2 local
schools that were essentially teaching MMA, before MMA
was branded as such. Governed by Bruce Lee’s principle
of ‘Keep what is useful, reject what is useless’ (still
the main philosophy of Jeet Kune Do), these schools used
a core foundation of the speed and precision of Wing
Chun, mixed with Western Boxing, Thai Boxing, and
Ju-Jitsu grappling. He trained with these schools for
many years, became a senior instructor with them, before
branching out on his own to pursue his own blend of
ideas for MMA. |
|
To this day, Sifu Rob still trains within the
class environment, with all students. This
provides valuable hands-on experience and close
tuition for all, compared with other instructors
who ‘stand at the side lines’ simply shouting
instruction. |
